Friday I had lunch with the friend of mine who used to be married to the woman I had lunch with on Thursday, the one who said “Holy shit, life is ridiculous and sad,” and had, additionally, also figured out how to party only once a week — what a visionary.
The visionary’s ex and I went to a place where you could get two different kinds of salads in one bowl. This genius idea was called the half-and-half and it was $16. It would be nice if it were $12 but I didn’t let this get in the way of my deep appreciation. I am nothing if not a lady who loves a salad. I picked a beet, peach and goat cheese salad for one half, and for the other, cabbage, pumpkin seeds and — something else. I also got a Topo Chico.
I enjoyed this meal and my friend paid for it which made it even more enjoyable. My friend had big news for me. He had gotten sober since the last time I saw him. It has been well over four years since he’s had a drink.
