I don’t know if I’m like David Sedaris. But I appreciate this reader! You too could be one.
I Review My Stay At Holiday Inn Express Jamaica - JFK - AirTrain - NYC, An IHG Hotel
How many times did the younger woman in front of you at check in say to the desk clerk “yeah but it’s on the website that you have a free shuttle?” and how many times did he refuse to address this but merely double down on his contention that being three blocks from the JFK AirTrain was the same as having a free shuttle?
Five times.
Did the front desk clerk originally put you into a room directly across from a loud elevator and did you then immediately get back into this elevator to request a room change, all the while wrestling with the question “am I the most entitled person on earth or is the fact that I am wondering this considering the hotel is pretty empty proof that I feel I deserve nothing?” and after going through with making the request, did you do so through a new desk clerk, who was very nice but gave you a room on the other side of the building, which, while far from the elevator, unfortunately received the brunt of the wind during a night of massive, massive gusting and did you spend the entire night worrying the structure was going to collapse because it seemed to have been constructed out of Styrofoam plates, while also fighting off the suspicion that the new desk clerk knowingly put you into this much louder room in order to punish you?
Yes.
