I Guarantee You're Not The Only One Having A Rough Time
Tuesday I did a few errands and then I came home and sat on the couch and did not feel happy at all.
I wrote to my friend E. and asked if she had walked yet. She hadn’t. I was so relieved. We agree to meet at a ditch trail halfway between our houses.
We often walk along the ditch trails together. A ditch trail is a trail with a ditch next to it filled with water that moves along, sometimes slow, with twigs and leaves gathering on the surface, sometimes fast, like a babbling brook, but fake. Sometimes dogs jump into the ditches when it gets hot. Sometimes people get mad about this.
The ditch trail is like an amusement park log flume ride for people who’d rather stroll along the flume ride for free than pay to go on it. After I met her I went out and bought two white shirts because she reminded me they were useful. E. was in a better mood than I was, lucky for her. But she had troubles. Her father recently moved to assisted living. She told me that he was settling in OK but that he kept complaining that he didn’t live in the assisted living that was right next to his favorite grocery store, even though the one he lived in was way nicer. I wondered why he didn’t just go to the cheaper one he liked near the store and she said he needed more services, more infrastructure.
