A Friend Ponders Her Frozen Casseroles, I Mean Embryos
I have a friend who had a baby using IVF and that child not only loves the cold, she is reportedly somewhat immune to it. She loves to go without a coat, to curl up in snowbanks, to chew ice. My friend insists these tendencies are a result of her having been frozen for such a long time.
My story is not about this woman. It’s about another friend who had a child using IVF. A lot of time has passed — the child can actually play sports, with actual rules, and even (if only just) is beginning to think about “romance” — but my friend still pays to keep the rest of the frozen embryos in storage.
